The smaller ones, however, are made of tungsten and molybdenum, metals employed in spacecraft and missiles because of their resistance to high temperatures. The smallest one is only one-tenth of an inch long.
To learn more about their compositions and origins, these odd compounds were later subjected to in-depth research at facilities in Helsinki, St. Petersburg, and Moscow. Now, it is evident to scientists that metals do not naturally occur, indicating that they are components with an artificial technological origin.
